How is the Kalahari Desert different from other African deserts (Sahara, Namib)?

The Kalahari is not a true sand desert in the same sense as the Sahara or Namib. It is a semi-arid region characterized by red sandy soils, grasses, shrubs, and seasonal vegetation that responds to rainfall. This relatively diverse environment supports a remarkable variety of wildlife, including species that are less common in extremely dry desert regions. Rather than being defined by extreme aridity, the Kalahari stands out for its red landscapes, seasonal changes, rich wildlife, and vast open spaces.
